Booking Shangri La Golden Sands Penang and Advice ?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me of a great site where i can cheaply book the Golden Sands Resort in Penang.

Also, i%26#39;ve heard and read that the standard rooms are quite noisy due to a local mosque and not really up to scratch. Does anyone know if there is a huge difference between the standard and the sea facing rooms.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Guy,

Your going to hear this five times a day at Batu Ferringi, the only real escape is to go to your room and close the windows. In Malaysia, they are allowed to broadcast the call to prayer through loudspeakers, unlike Singapore or south Thailand.

Does not really matter what room you get at GS, if you open the window at the prayer time, you have islamic things in your ears.

Nothing wrong with that, but its all in arabic and try asking a local whats being said.

They don%26#39;t know ! So whats it all about ?

GS is great, but you can get cheaper and better value in Thailand. No mosque either !

Hi

try typing in Golden Sands Penang in Google, will find several sites including best deals are with Asiarooms.com, hotelcity.com, wireddestinations.com , passionasia.com, mairmari.com, sinisini.com etc just shop around to see who has the best deal. Could try shangri-la.com direct, sometimes get a better deal, sometimes not.

have fun

Sometimes its worth contacting the hotel directly to see if they have special deals.

I%26#39;ve stayed at this hotel. Did not notice the small mosque on the grounds of the hotel until I walked past it one evening!!

Its worth getting the sea facing rooms and try to get a high floor.
