Hi, a holiday on the eve of your National Day.
Mutiara Burau Bay is one of Langkawi%26#39;s several resorts which does provides a good place for family, with its large garden compound, and also the single units of family cabanas.
Its beach is also one of the few decent ones in Langkawi.
It is also close to the cable car and also Oriental Village/Telaga Harbour. This cable car will be a totally different experience for the kids as compared to the cable car to Mount Faber/Sentosa.
You may also wish to rent a vehicle so that you can move around to explore the island on your own. Do bring the kids to the rice terrace (Laman Padi) at Pantai Cenang, opposite of CDM/Meritus Pelangi-at least they could have some first hand knowledge of how rice is planted, and the process it goes through to reach on their plate as food for them.
Then you may want to consider going to the marine park at Pulau Payar or do an islands hopping (Pulau Dayang Bunting,Pulau Singa Besar).
Or pay a visit to the book Village- though not much selection of books but the surrounding area is serene and tranqul with a stream flowing by.
Also taking them to the Black Sand Beach, and shudder the thought if one of them ask why is the sand black, when there is no active volcano around here-so why is the sand black?

Hi
I stay at the hotel which shares the beach with the Mutiara and although I have never stayed there I have had a quick walk around the grounds and pool.
This hotel looks to be ideal for families. Some of the chalets are directly on the beach, just step out and there you are. Unfortunately I cannot say what the interiors are like.
There is not a great deal to do at this end of the island so your kids may be a bit bored. There is lots of wildlife to see and the Oriental Village is within walking distance so you could visit the cable car - which is a must.
They have jet skis, canoes, wind surfing on the beach and there is a horse riding stables quiet near but anywhere else would mean a taxi or hire car to vist.
Hope this helps.

I won%26#39;t waffle on about Langkawi, or say that Mutiara is on one of Langkawi%26#39;s few decent beaches, I can assure you there is more than a few decent beaches on Langkawi if you know where to look.
The Mutiara is great for families. Request one of the family cabana%26#39;s that overlook the gardens, plenty of space there for the kids to play and very safe as there is no roads etc.
The cabana%26#39;s consist of two rooms, a double bedroom and a lounge. There is a couch/settee that folds down into another double bed. You can also request another bed if required but they charge extra for this.
As has been said its easy access to Oriental Village, plus you can walk to the next resort along the beach (Berjaya), but to go elsewhere you%26#39;ll need a car rental or a taxi.
Another nice thing about staying here is that if you walk along Burau Bay towards the rocks at the left of the resort you will come to Pantai Kok, this beach is more or less always deserted, only locals use it occassionally. Follow the beach and you can walk all the way long to Telaga Harbour. There is several nice restuarants here, much better than Oriental Village eateries.
If you do book Mutiara, book it to include breakfast. Its very nice to sit out and enjoy breakfast by the pool. Good mix of choices, east and western. Watch out for the monkey%26#39;s in the morning though.
Taxi office is just outside the main gate, plus there is a couple of little shops selling soft drinks, snacks etc.
Good day all,
thanks for the reply...appreciated it .
other than mutiara any other hotels/resort that I shoud consider ??
my hubby%26#39;s friends told him not to go Langkawi .. reasons - beach not so great, nothing much to do and see...

You also might want to consider the following resorts -
Pelangi Beach
Berjaya
Casa del Mar
Frangipani
Berjaya shares the same beach as Mutiara. Its the most private.
i%26#39;ve stayed in this hotel and its the best, value for money :) great beach. nice breakfast. rain forest area. its just beautiful .
