Penang or Langkawi

Thinking about doing a twin centre trip in November next year to Malaysia. We would liketo spend a few days in Kula Lumpar and the do a few days at either Penang or Langkawi away from the hussle and bussle of the city. Langkawi sounds perfect for us as i hear it is a beautiful island. Please can anyone advise which is the best area to visit Penang or Langkawi?

Penang or Langkawi

Hi,

If you want to get away from the hussle %26amp; bussle then I%26#39;d have to recommend Langkawi over Penang. Not to say there is anything wrong with Penang, its just more cosmopolitan and quite developed when compared to Langkawi.

Langkawi is quiet, more relaxing and so far not developed. Its the better of the two if you want a beach/resort orientated holiday.

There is not a great deal to do, there is very little in the way of history/culture. Beach, cable car, boat trips, some limited shopping and the usual eating and drinking.

The islands are beautiful, but I feel a week there is probably long enough for most.

Whats your accomodation budget ? Would you be doing a package ?

Penang or Langkawi

I thought that would be the case when i have checked these places on the internet. We are looking to do a package deal to e honest. We have already done te same sort of thing in Thailand 2 years running (Bangkok for a couple nights and then onto koh samui for 11) -we wanna check out the rest of Asia really and Cambodia was another option but it would work out nearly twice as expensive so Malaysia seemed like the best bet. Can you suggest any other areas of Malaysia that might be an option to spend the rest of our holiday or do you think Langkawi is the best of the bunch?

redbullover,

If you are going to book a package then the norm is KL then either Penang, Langkawi or Pangkor.

Have you checked out what deals are being offered by Flightbookers, Travelmood, or AirlineNetwork. I always found good deals for packages on the travel pages of saturday and sunday editions of The Mail.

Have you been to Malaysia before, if not I think your going to find it quite different to the thai experience. Langkawi is much quieter than Samui.

Should add that Sabah and Sarawak are also a possibility. I can%26#39;t advise on East Malaysia but many people go here as part of a package as well.
