Melacca hotel recommendation

Hi,

Fenix Inn is at the centre of Melaka town, so it is not close to A famosa. The A famosa bungalow looks quite nice from the outside. Unless you have only one night in Melaka, it is better to visit A famosa and stay in Melaka town.

Problem with A famosa resort is poor service and maintenance. You can try to visit the bungalow and decide if you want to stay there. Otherwise, you can get hotel in Melaka town easily except long weekend and public holiday.

Fenix Inn (budget), Hotel Aldy, Hotel Puri, Baba House are central hotel with good value.

hiya i stayed at the aldy hotel at xmas and rearly enjoyed it and was clean and worth the money and close to all the amenities and food was brilliant in the bistro underneath the hotel maggieomx

Alex,

Can you rmember the name of the hotel right next o the tourist police building in th historical area. Its a very short walk from the Maratine Museum. Aldi or something. Good hotel and very comfortable.

hiya albertscat thats the aldy where i stayed it was a brilliant hotel close to most things and very clean and reasonable to stay there maggieomx

Maggie,

Thats the place I was trying to remember. We stayed there last year and really enjoyed it. The prices were good and the hotel was nice.

The breakfast/restuarant area was good, not to mention the cocktails. Thanks for the reminder.

Hi Albert,

It sure is Aldy Hotel. Never stayed there but had cocktail there. Not sure why some members have complained about it in TA. However, with such central location, you can be out most of the time.

Thats right Alex, whatever way you turn when you came out of the hotel there was something of interest, plus its easy access to most of the old town/historical sights and opposite the fort for great views of the surrounding area.

We thought it was good value, the rooms were clean and comfortable, plus friendly helpful staff. The room we had was at the back of the building overlooking the Tourist Police Station, they set up a mini hawker stall every morning for breakfast and the aroma%26#39;s of the food came straight into the room when we opened the windows. Needless to say we were never late for breakfast.

Good breakfasts they were to, everything cooked to order in front of us. Eastern and western ! Delicious.

Hi Albert,

Note sure if you went to the new mall Dataran Pahlawan opposite Mahkota when you were here last. It has many shops and althought business is still not good as they make the mistake of having few eatery and cafes which locals loves to spend their time in malls. There are however many nicely designed shops selling nice clothes and stuff.

Also the new cultural food village has been opened to brisk business next to Mahkota Parade. It has traditional architecture with many food stores selling famous Melaka dishes at reasonable prices and nice ambiance which is a change from the bright and stuffy food court.

Whenever I spend my weekend in Melaka, I will go to the night bazzar and have a drink in Geographer Cafe which has great ambiance with people dancing to band performance.

hiya albertscat we stayed in the aldy and our room looked over the police station!!!!!!!!! lovely clean hotel and the bathroom was lovely and clean as was the bed and it was handy haveing the tea and coffee in the rooms as was the crisp and pot noodles!!! maggieomx
