Golden Sands or Parkroyal in Penang

Hi

We are 2 couples hoping to spend 6 nights in Penang between staying 3 nights inKL and 6 inLankawi but cannot decide between the Golden Sands %26amp; Parkroyal. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Golden Sands or Parkroyal in Penang

6 or half a dozen? They are of similar standard; near to each other; popular with tourists; have nice landscaped pool; I%26#39;d just pick the cheaper of the two.

Agree with gasman, but I will say that Golden Sands does have a better pool/gardens area. The rooms at PR are better, I%26#39;d go for GS as I prefer the poolside, and easy to walk across the road to Global Bay Food Court.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Both great hotels for a holiday in Batu. Whatever you choose just make sure you get sea facing.

Thanks very much for the advice, I think we shall go to the Golden Sands.

Does anybody know how easy it is to travel from Penang to Lankawi with luggage by ferry?

It looks as if it will take a whole day to fly since they have stopped the direct flight %26amp; you now have to travel back to KL %26amp; then on to Lankawi.

Its easy to do. Go into anyone of the agents in Batu Ferringi the day before you want to travel. They will sell you a ticket and organise`a drop of at Swettenham Pier the next morning.

Crossing takes about 2.5 hrs.

Thank you

Can you tell me if they run quite frequently please

I cannot remember whether it is once or twice a day for the Pen-Langkawi ferry service; but there is one daily at 8.30 or 9 a.m. However, if you wish to fly, there is a new service by a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines operating direct Pen-Langkawi using Fokker aircraft: www.fireflyz.com.my

JAD,

This is a link for the ferry time table.
