1st Time Malaysia - Help

We are thinking of going on honeymoon next year in April to Malaysia. What will the weather be like early April? We thought we would go to Kuala Lumpa for a few days, then onto Langkawi and maybe to Borneo for a few days to see the Orangutans. Any tips or help on where to stay - which hotels are the best etc. We went to Thailand this year, Royal Orchid Sheraton in BKK, then Imperial Samui in Koh Samui and then onto Dusit Laguna in Phuket - we loved them all and desperately want to make the right choice next year - especially as its for our honeymoon.

Hi ,

April is considered non-Monsoon season, hence it%26#39;s one of the best time to travel. It%26#39;s quite hot though not as hot as Thailand , if you%26#39;ve been to Thailand and like it , you%26#39;ll have no problem acclimatizing in Malaysia. But as the cliche goes, it%26#39;s not the heat, it%26#39;s the humidity that will often get to people.

There are a few good hotels around KL (acronym for Kuala Lumpur as in LA?) I%26#39;m sure my fellow TAs will flood you with suggestions. I get a bit knackered repeating it, sorry.

Hi,

If you are not good at planning multi centres, why not just look at one of the package brochures such as Kuoni or Premier Holidays? They all cover this part of the world and have itineraries to suit your budget.

Also check out travelcollection.co.uk as they have some good deals.

As for independant travel, well hotels will depend on budget and desired class.

Are you backpackers or relatives of HRH??

Jamester :)

Did a very similar trip to the one you are planning this april just gone. Check out my trip report on this site, it was posted around end april/beginning may.

Sabah(Borneo)goto:www,mabulwaterbungalows.com. and for orange utan goto www.sabah.com.my then Sepilok and http://www.tourism.gov.com for all info at Malaysia

really depends on your budget but can recommend the Casa del Mar in Langkawi - small intimate hotel with personal service - quite different from the large resort experience.

KL - you are spoiled for choice - perhaps others coudl recommend anything particularly suited to a honeymoon. We stayed at Crowne Plaza and it was excellent.

If possible I would suggest you start in Langkawi to chill and leave KL till the end

Hi

My wife and I went to KL, Langkawi and Perhentian last year in March and we had a nice time in Malaysia. You can check out weather stats on http://weatherbase.com by the way to get an impression of what the weather will be like :-) I think you will be able to find some useful info in my trip report with pictures and links on my homepage gardkarlsen.com/malaysia_kuala_lumpur.htm . Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. My wife and I came home from Thailand just two days ago and South East Asia is really nice as a vacation destination. If you are into food you should check out this food blog from KL by the way: http://www.awhiffoflemongrass.blogspot.com/ . She is a friend of mine and she took my out a couple of time on my two trips to KL last year. Have an excellent honeymoon :-)
