Transport Network

Dear All,

I have a fair idea as to what my plan in KL is now bit just want to ask the locals about the various transport options in and around city. I am staying at MOKL and want to avoid taxis given some of the reviews on this website. As far I as aware the options are

1) Hopper ( seems to cover most of the attractions from Petronas to Lake Gardens.

2) Monorail- seems to cover a lot of the central stuff and goes as far as the ';Eye';.

3) RapidKL Lines - Star and Putra

4) ERL Line - KLIA Express ( KLIA to KL Sentral)

5) ERL Line - KL Transit ( KLSentral to KLIA via Putrajaya)

6) KTM Kommuter

The impression I am getting is that the various options are not integrated compared to London for example. Am I right in saying that you cannot get day passes that covers all modes of transport.

I would be interested in what the locals think is the best/cheapest/easiest wayto get around. I was planning to use the Hopper and Monorail to get around most stuff. Is it worth using the rail network instead.

I am at some point going to Putrajaya but will probably use taxi for that.

Also, is it best to buy tickets as you go along from the stations.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You are right to say you have to use different passes for riding on different rails. Apart from the monorail, there%26#39;s also an LRT. The station nearest to MOKL will be the KLCC station. From hotel, just cut across the suria shopping mall and you%26#39;ll get there.

I wouldn%26#39;t want to travel by bus. Never tried b4, but wouldn%26#39;t want to try either. Especially with the traffic condition in KL.

Taxi, though notorious, is still the easiest/ fastest way to travel, in my opinion. Other posters might beg to differ?

Check your hotel for any free shuttle services.

Reseach on the ';normal'; prices to get to where you wanna go, and compare with what the drivers quote you. They%26#39;ll usually quote 2-3x the amount. Try bargaining and see whether you wanna take it.

You can use Touch n Go card for all trave except ERL line and KTM.
