langkawi holiday villa - the truth?

Hi

there are some very mixed reviews about this hotel, is it really that bad? has anybody been recently and could advise?, I%26#39;m not looking for a spa facilities type resort, nor an abundance of water sports, just decent rooms with a balcony, nice pool and beach, within walking distance of restaurants

thanks for your help!

langkawi holiday villa - the truth?

Hello,

I have stayed at both the Holiday Villa and its sister hotel the Federal Villa within the past year. They are both nice places I would rate the Federal a 3 star and the Holiday a 3+ star. They remind me of many nice beach hotels you see in places like Mexico. Federal Villa is about RM20 cheaper than Holiday Villa.

They have a large amount of facilities and pretty nice grounds. They have a huge pool and they do a good job keeping the beach clean. The restaurants are pretty decent and not too pricey for hotels but I would still choose to eat at a locally run place. The local places are cheaper and more authentic and you will find several in the area. A lot of families and younger people stay here because the rates and location are good. Expect more of a fun type atmosphere than a romantic one. The staff is very friendly but can be a bit slow to respond to extra needs. This is a common problem at several resorts in Malaysia.

They are located on Pantai (Pantai = beach) Tengah right next to Pantai Cenang. Cenang and Tengah are the main beaches in Langkawi.

thank you for your comments!

Hi new22003

just another quick question if you don%26#39;t mind...are the balconies big enough for two people to sit and have a drink, or are they really small?

thanks again!

Hi

I went to Holiday Villa in March this year on recommedation from a friend. I was really worried when I saw the reviews, especially with the bugs, but he reassured me not to worry.

Our room was a deluxe and looked like it had recently been refurbished. The bathroom was lovely. The balconies are small but you can easily fit two people to have an evening drink. The bonus is, despite ours overlooking the pool, the way they are designed makes them feel really private. The pool is great and the beach is lovely. The location is really good. All in all I found the hotel to be just what we needed - a nice base with a good pool area for the daytime. My only comment would be that the corridors in the hotel can seem hospital like but I never saw 1 bug in 13 nights stay.

Its really not a bad place, its a good size and quite impressive looking. Used to be a sister resort to Langkawi Village before it was taken over.

The location is reasonable, can walk to local restuarants etc (bit of a way), good beach front and rooms are comfortable.

Its not a premier resort though !

Very popular with asian guests. Mostly from KL and Singapore, plus long stayers from europe.

Consider Mutiara or Berjaya to.
