I am planning a trip to Langkawi early next Feb and haviing read reviews, believe these three hotels seem the favourite on this beach strip.
I like somewhere that is small, with good service, and fairly quiet. Do these match those requirements?
Also, is this beach strip very busy, or very noisy, or is it just a few restaurants and bars. I don%26#39;t like too much life when on holiday as the idea is relaxation, however do not want to be in the middle of nowhere with no other restaurant/bar choices outside the hotel.
Any help appreciated! Thanks!
Casa Del Mar vs Bon Ton vs Pelangi!
Have you thought about Staying at multiple Places? Afraid I can鈥檛 really give you any advice on what the hotels you鈥檝e mentioned are like because I鈥檝e not stayed in them yet! But we鈥檝e booked 5 nights at Casa Del Mar and then 3 nights at Bon Ton in June. Personally I think the opportunity for staying in a 120-year-old Malaysian style villa was too good to miss. The only problem with Bon Ton being that it鈥檚 not on the beach (but only about a ten minute walk I think.). And so that鈥檚 where Casa Del Mar comes in, with views of the sea right in front of your rooms.
From the reports I鈥檝e read the Casa Del Mar is probably in the most lively area of the island with a few good dining places near by. But I don鈥檛 think anywhere on langkawi could be described as 鈥榣ively鈥?and I doubt you鈥檒l have a problem with it being too noisy or busy. Bon Ton鈥檚 probably a little more Isolated but don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 too far away from the main area.
Again, just to point out I鈥檝e not actually been to Langkawi yet so not quite sure why I鈥檓 trying to give you advice! This is just what I鈥檝e read on other Trip advisor posts.
Casa Del Mar vs Bon Ton vs Pelangi!
Hi
Depends what you want from a holiday. Casa del Mar has 29 rooms whereas the Pelangi has 350 rooms so if you want a more exclusive smaller resort then I would go for the Casa del Mar. Pelangi is quite family orientated which could equal lots of children.
Again, the Bon Ton is quite exclusive but it%26#39;s a good idea if you like animals as there is a cat and dog sanctuary at the hotel.
There is no where on Langkawi which I would describe as ';very lively';, everywhere is really quiet and laid back, so the main area at Pantai Cenang is just a selection of restaurants so no worries about too much noise. Most visitors to Langkawi seem to go to bed at about 10.30 to 11.00pm!!!
Moving hotels is quite a good idea providing you can be bothered packing up after a couple of days and moving on. Me, I just cannot be bothered with all the hassle.
Hope this helps somewhat. From what you say I should go for the Casa del Mar if I were you.

Hi Notts98. Have you actually been able to access rates and availability for Casa Del Mar for 2008. I%26#39;ve been trying for weeks but with no joy. It seems from the write up%26#39;s that Casa Del Mar has the better location, so will hopefully be successful in booking in due course.

Stayed four nights at Bon Ton late April 2007. One of the highlights of our Malaysia trip. Setting and service were excellent, the pool is great, and the food%26#39;s pretty good too. All staff are extremely helpful. The houses themselves are exquisite.
Try to get one with an outdoor tub!
It helps if you like cats as they everywhere.
Bon Ton is not on the beach, but Pantai Cenang is nothing special and you can drive there in less than 2 minutes. You look out on a marshy area full of birds and frogs. Its an extremely peaceful place.

How much time do you plan on spending in Langkawi?
CDM exactly fits youir requirement . Bon Ton is built on reclaimed land and is therefore some distance from the beach. Pelangi is a large complex and is next door to CDM
If you just want to chill then maybe a stay in CDM would be fine. I stayed there for 4 nights and for me a week would get boring. So I stayed another 5 nights at the Berjaya which offered a totally different scene. There are a few restaurants at the Oriental Village 10 min walk from the Berjaya. Unfortunately the Berjaya is also a huge complex so you need to balance your preference for a small place against the advantage of a total change of scene.
Think your best option would be the CDM. The Bon Ton is beautiful but its not the most convenient.
Thanks everyone for the reponses - great help!
I am planning about 10 nights in Langkawi once visited other places so the option of 2 hotels may well be a winner!
Thanks
Ian,
For information, we emailed CDM directly and got rates. Decided to stay 10 nights. Alot in one place but like the access to restaurants off site, and will do a few excursions. Roll on March 08.
I can%26#39;t think of anything more blissful than 10 nights at CDM. You%26#39;ll love it and be so relaxed by the end of it!
