Advice Please re Sequencing of Trip

Dear All

Thanks for all the replies to my previous thread. I think I have a far better idea as to what I want to see and do but just unsure as to the planning of it. I am iin KL for four days and in that time I would like to do the following:

1) Skybridge Tower at Petronas

2) KL Tower and Resraurant

3) Shopping ( KLCC, Starhill, Lot 10,Berjaya etc..)

4) National Mosque, Islamic Museum, Railway Station, Lake Gardens

5) Chinatown

6) Visit to Shah Alam to see Blue Mosque

7) Visit to Putra to see Mosque and Bridge

8) Batu Caves

9) Firefly Sanctuary

10) Malyasia Eye

11) Evenings - Bangsar, Asian Heritage Row, Jalan P Ramlee Area

Is this too much to do in 4 days. I will probably use the Hoppa or taxis to do all the central attractions.

My main issue is how much time do I need to allow for to go to Putra and Sham Alam and what is the best form of transport. I was wandering whether you could charter a taxis and cover Sham Alam Mosque, Batu Caves, Firefly Sanctuary and Putra in one day. That would leave me with 3 days to do all the local stuff.

Also, will you be allowed in the mosques at any time of the day or should I plan around certain times. That also applies to all the other items on my list.

Just interested to hear the views of locals and those who have been before.

Look forward to your replies

Advice Please re Sequencing of Trip

Do you have 4 full days, or do you actually only have 2 full days + 1 day arrival + 1 day departure = 4 days?

Advice Please re Sequencing of Trip

Hi,

It can be done, though you will be exhausted.

Start early in the morning- go to Blue Mosque first, then Putra-have lunch in the shops below the Putra Sq, then head to BAtu Caves, then around 1700/1730hrs, head for Kuala Selangor, should be on time to catch the sunset from Bukit Melawati, go somewhere for a light dinner, then proceed to Kampung Kuantan for the fireflies colonies.

Back to KL around 2130/2200hrs-still have energy??back to hotel (which hotel in KL you have decided on?), then can still check out Asian Heritage Row and Jln P.Ramlee.

Following day, a bit more relax, take the hoponhopoff-which allows you flexibility on where to hop off and hop on again to cover sights of 1-5.

Then in the evening, grab a taxi to Titiwangsa for ride on the ferris wheel, called Eye of Malaysia, and then onto Bangsar for dinner.

As I have suggested the mosques in early morning part, no problem with admission, if possible, before the main prayer (especially Fridays) time just after 1300hrs, and last till about 1415hrs.

Do take note, Islamic Musuem is closed on Monday, and open from 1000hrs-1800hrs. Admission fee of RM12/-

If you plan to have dinner on the Sri Angkasa revolving restaurant in KL Tower(MenaraKl), suggest to make a online booking to assure yourself of a table, and possibly one close to the glass panel for optimum viewing.

Skybridge- unless you really really want to do it out of self-fulfilment having gone up there, as you need to go there early, even before the counter opens at 0815hrs, queue up to get your time slot- you only have like 15minutes up there, and the views is actually not as commanding as what you will get from KL Tower.

Earlier thread has a very poignant point, is it 4 solid full days that you have, and you have taken into account the day of arrival and departure.

Thanks for the replies

I do have 4 full days but the first day will be unwinding from a 13 hour flight. I arrive at around 7 in the morning and have 4.5 days before I fly to Penang.

My thinking was to do Putra one morning and spend the rest of the day in KL. The following day I could go to Shah Alam. That would still leave 2 full days to shop and see attractions around KL. Is it possible to combine Shah Alam Blue Mosque, Batu Caves and Firefly Sanctuary

This was my orginal thinking

Day 1 - Arrive into KL (staying at MO). Unwind, do a bot of Shopping around Suria and go out in the evening ( KL Tower) or an area local to MO

Day 2 - Spend morning/afternoon around the Lake Gardens Area ( National Mosque, Museum etc..

Evening - Go to Shah Alam on way to Firefly Sancuary

Day 3- Putra in the morning. Rest of the day and evening in KL

Day 4 - Fit in the rest of the stuff aroud KL

Day 5 - Leave for Panang at about 4pm

I would welcome your thoughts. I don%26#39;t want to be on the go for the full 4 days and I may need to drop a few things.

Hi,

There%26#39;s something wrong with your itinerary.

Day2 - ok fine sightseeing in KL, but I suggest you do Batu caves after that (in the afternoon, not evening), then proceed to have seafood dinner in Kuala Selangor (Firefly sanctuary) which is at least an hour away, then go for the fireflies (there%26#39;re 2 sites, one is better than the other, you have to ask the local guide which). Kuala Selangor is a fishing village, so seafood is cheaper and fresher. Fireflies are best appreciated in full darkness, so it has to be at least 8pm. or is there any other firefly site?

Day 3- Putrajaya. Lunch at Chinese restaurant at the Perdana lake or at Shangri la Putrajaya. Then proceed to Blue Mosque shah alam. The Blue mosque is best appreciated in the day. Shah Alam is 45 minutes away from Putrajaya via the Elite Highway.

Then rest of day in KL.

Don%26#39;t you think it%26#39;s better like this, guys?

Rioj

Thanks for the advice. I am struggling with the geography in terms of planning my trip.

Day 1 - I%26#39;m ok with the first day and I%26#39;m doing things that are close. I have e-mailed KL tower to make a reservation for 9pm in the revolving restaurant. Assuming this is confirmed, any suggestions where to go after. Luna Bar is mentioned a lot but I fancy going somewhere that has a lot of options where you can stroll around and take your pick. Anything close to the KL Tower that I should consider in terms of areas or venues.

Day 2- Your suggestion seem a good idea to combine but just be interested to know where everything is and how to get from one place top another and how long it would take. I think you are suggesting the following:

Lake Garden Zone to Batu Caves - how long would it take and the cost of a taxi

Batu Caves to Kuala Selangor-How much would cost of taxi be if it is an hours journey? I am not big on seafood but could give it a try

Kuala Selangor Back to KL

Day 3 - Putrajaya/Shah Alam -Seems a good idea. How long should I allow for this whole trip from leaving MOKL and returning to MOKL. I would hope to leave around 1030. Could you do both in around 4-5 hours. Also what should I be allowing for in taxi fares?

Day 4 %26amp; 5 - Fit in rest

This itineray is good from the view that it would leave me the evenings free ( except Day 2). I could then fit in the ';Eye';, '; Nightlife Areas'; and Shopping Zones';

I%26#39;m sure the plans will change before the trip in June. All suggestions are appreciated. The key is to balance the attractions with a relaxing break ( not so easy to do in 4 days with lots to see). if I were to take the mosques out, it would be easier to do but it would be a shame not to go to these areas having travelled such long distances to get to KL.

I think it is possible to do it all and relax. It just needs some good planning. The information you guys give is invaluable.

Thanks

Hi,

as your itinerary planning is coming to shape; for logistics of transport, make sure:-

a). Batu Caves is done with Kuala Selangor;

b). Putrajaya is done with Blue Mosque.

Blue Mosque first, then Putrajaya.

4 hours should be more than sufficient for above (b).

Do take note of prayer times-other days is fine, only on Fridays, it is jam packed on Friday afternoon; prayer times as advised in earlier thread. There is one more prayer time around 3.15pm in the five prayers times ritual observed.

For Day 1 after KL Tower..

You can take a stroll to Jalan P Ramlee (there%26#39;s lots of clubs to visit and have a drink. A slightly longer walk will be to Asian Heritage Row. Similar stuff, chic hangouts.

Alternatively if you are more adventurous, take a taxi to Jalan Telawi in Bangsar, another chic hangout place with cafes, resturants..etc

Certain trips like Firefly sights should not rely on taxi, let%26#39;s see what I can search on the firefly night trip , because it%26#39;s a 2hr plus trip from KL, and it%26#39;s not a popular touristy thing to do so I am not sure the hotel organizes such trip. And I%26#39;m not sure the taxi driver know where to find good seafood restaurant if you were to take a taxi.

You can try this link , they have a few tours around KL. I%26#39;m not endorsing this company, if you can find others online, you can compare. As Kuala Selangor is quite far, better to join an organized tour.

You have to work out and see whether it%26#39;s worth it.

My suggestion is to skip the firefly and Shah Alam. They are out of the way and time consuming. Not such great attractions, anyway.

Stick to KL and Putrajaya and do it in a leisurely way.

3 days in KL, half day trip to Putrajaya (afternoon-evening would be ideal, as the place looks really nice at night!).

Enjoy :)
