Malaysian tours offered by Tour East and Nam Ho?

I have a dilemma deciding between similar tours offered by the above companies but with a huge difference in price! Tour East - SGD 1500 for 9 nights, Nam Ho - SGD 330 for 5!

Would be grateful for any suggestions or hearing of others experiences of the above companies.

Malaysian tours offered by Tour East and Nam Ho?

Aha! Sorry it turns out Nam Ho made a mistake with that price. Still revised price of 435 SGD is still a lot cheaper!

Malaysian tours offered by Tour East and Nam Ho?

Hi Aliup, I%26#39;m afraid you have to be more specific in terms of the itinerary of both packages so that we can do an apple to apple comparison. Tour East package might cover a few cities, while Nam Ho only cover one, e.g. KL.

Hi RioJ, thanks for your response.

Well the Tour East 10 day tour covers Malacca (1 day), KL (2), Cameron Highlands (1), Penang (2), Pangkor Island (2) and Port Dickson (1). Nam Ho 6 day tour covers Genting Highland, Cameron Highland, Ipoh, Penang, KL and Malacca as per itinerary namho.com.sg/video/malaysia_genting_6days.as鈥?/a> Sounds rushed but so much cheaper!

Aliup...

The itinerary from Nam Ho seems SO packed!!

Seems like you only have 1 day for each place. It%26#39;s definitely not enough for you to see each place in 1 day... Especially the travelling time between the various locations is already several hours each way on average. I wouldn%26#39;t take up this package, no matter how cheap it is...

That%26#39;s what they used to do in the good old days where it was so popular then. 1 Day here and there... Unless yo are willing to travel on your own and explore. That kind of trip would be just an eye opener. However, I think paying %26gt;SG$1000 is too expensive. Even if you tells me they put you uup at 5 star hotel. I wonder, how expensive are those hotel in MY? I understnad the agent actually get very good rate for it.

Nam Ho is been around for long time and used to be one of the famous and popular agent for MY trip.. As for Tour East, I never heard of. If I were you, I would go by Nam Ho... which my anuty and grnadmother used to travel with for years.... However, please do not let my comments affect your decision as there indeed might be some differences tehy may offer. Or worse case, like what I experience before, they are all the same but different agent charge you differently...

I think tour packages%26#39; prices are pretty much the same everywhere else, it%26#39;s so commoditized. It%26#39;s an ultra competitive industry.

The difference will be in the type of hotels you stay, the mode of transport (is inland flight included?) , the places of interest you visit.

Perhaps it would help if you talk to Tour East and casually mention the Nam Ho package. If they%26#39;re competent enough, they%26#39;ll be able to tell you how different they are. It does make a difference when you%26#39;re staying 3 star hotel vs another 5 star hotel...Happy choosing...

I did look up on tour east toureast.net/singapore/鈥verland.pdf

on your package.

Indeed you do stay on nicer hotels for Toureast. For example, in Penang for TE (Tour east) , you stay in a beach hotel Holiday Inn, while Nam Ho (NH) you stay in either City Bayview or Berjaya Georgetown (seediest hotel in Penang from my experience).

In KL, for TE, you stay in the very new Novotel Hydro Majestic (opened this yr). , while Nam Ho stay in Corus or Federal (all ';vintage'; hotels).

Plus in Tour east, you get to stay a night in Malacca , a night in Pangkor Island, a night in Port Dickson as well (which Nam Ho doesn%26#39;t).

The places you visit : Nam Ho doesn%26#39;t even bother to take you to KLCC, which I find rather funny, instead the no. of temples in the itinerary would garner it the ';thousand temple tour of Malaysia'; title I%26#39;m sure.

In the end , you get what you pay for. Don%26#39;t feel that you get ripped off by the price differentials.

Corrections: 2 nights pangkor and 2 nights port dickson for Toureast.

Thank you all! Well we are really after the convenience of a tour this time and pretty much set on one of the two (unless anyone has any recommendations for other tours run by other companies?).

Thank you RioJ, your info was particularly helpful! I was not able to get further than the home page on the Tour East website so thanks for the link!

What are all your opinions on Pangkor Island and Port Dickson? Would we be missing out by skipping these 2 destinations?

I would skip Pangkor and Port Dickson. Coming from Aus, with beautiful beaches to offer, you would not miss anything.
