where is the best place to stay in langkawi, we are a young married couple with no children. we would like to do some sight seeing, relaxing on the beach and nice restaurants.

advice on langkawi

Can you give us an idea of your budget per night for accommodation on Langkawi. It would make it easier to make some recommendation.

Luxury ... budget .... backpacker etc !

advice on langkawi

you should stay along pantai cenang. there is alot of chalets there. Stayed in Malibest .. very nice.... facing the sea. You can walk around alot of shops and restaurants too there. Just walking distance.

we were looking for luxury place to stay, thats close to entertainment but not to noisey.

what is the weather normally like this time of year?

Well, in Langkawi, top of the range hotels are: Tanjung Rhu,, Datai and Four Seasons. Followed by Andaman, Sheraton, Westin, Pelangi and what nots. Boutique: Case Del Mar, Bon Ton

Hi Flyinghigh8

It%26#39;s likely to be wet you%26#39;re still in the monsoon season It will however be warm. Can recommend the Datai super 5 star hotel but a bit out of the way. On the other hand there%26#39;s not much night life in Langkawi and not a great deal to see just a nice quiet pleasant place.

Regards

Doug

Don%26#39;t believe anything you hear about rainy season these days, a bit like the april showers last month in London ! Looks like the april showers are happening in may. Its much the same in Langkawi, good thing is it does not rain all day, just an hour or so at a time.

Go to the Datai, no children allowed at the top pool, excellent restuarants there, and you have the option of using the Andaman as well(cross sign).

Take a trip down to Telaga Harbour for a change of location, they have seven or so choices of cuisine.

All the best Langkawi resorts are not next to local restuarants. If this is a priority, as in get out of the resort and walk then you might want to consider Casa Del Mar, not in the same league, but very close to facilities.

As AlbertsCat says the best hotels are all a bit isolated %26amp; not near many restaurants. For this reason we stayed at the Pelangi %26amp; although not as luxurious as the Four Seasons, Datai etc there%26#39;s quite a lot of restaurants and shops a few minutes walking distance. If we were to return to Langkawi we would stay again at the Pelangi.

Yes, I agree. If you want to be within walking distance of restuarants and a few shops etc then the Pelangi is another resort to consider. Its next door to CDM at Pantai Cenang. Cheaper than the Datai, but you get what you pay for.
