Atmosphere Restaurant for anniversary dinner??

Hi

Due to flight availability, my husband and I will be spending our wedding anniversay in KK and not Dubai during our vacation.

Was looking at having dinner at Atmosphere - the revolving restaurant in KK.

Can anyone recommend this or are there any other ';unique'; restaurants where we could have dinner in KK

I can recommend Atmosphere for a great dinner as I%26#39;m an expat living in KK and have been there many times (including our Xmas dinner!).

Top tip - arrive no later than 6.15pm and have drinks at the bar. You can set your watch by the sunsets here and they lock the bar in position until approx 7pm so people can watch the sunset without revolving. If the weather is good it%26#39;s great.

When you are in KK, call the restaurant to make a reservation on 088 425 100 or if you want a helicopter or speedboat transfer from your hotel (if you are in the Sutera or Tanjung Aru hotels) to the restaurant call their sales office on 088 249 276. Packages for a speedboat transfer, dinner, and limo back to your hotel start at only RM299 (only approx £40 per person). All the details are here at http://www.atmosphererestaurant.com/

If in a taxi ask to be taken to the Menara Tun Mustapha Tower (or Sabah Foundation Building), the tallest building in KK. Atmosphere is on the 18th floor.

Prices are no more expensive than in any of the local 5 star hotels, with a great bar an extensive menu (leave room for the artistic desserts!)

Also look at %26#39;COAST%26#39; at the Shangri La Rasa Ria hotel.

The actual restaurant is %26#39;Unique%26#39;, on the beach overlooking the beach and the food is excellent. If you are lucky you might be treated to a lightning show in the distance... Good service and same same prices as just about everywhere else.

You can option up to a private %26#39;bungalow%26#39; which is separate to the actual restaurant and it is just the two of you. I think the fee includes all alcohol, and a certain amount of food, but check first.

In holiday broshures there are actual tours that you can go on to the COAST.

When we were atthe RR we spoke to a UK couple on their honeymoon and they raved about the bungalow/service/food and value (mind you the pound buys a lot in Sabah).

Recently holidayed in KK with hubbie and two teenagers. Went to @tmosphere for pre dinner drinks as curious. WOW!! funky decore that highlights the setting sun, and martinis to die for.

Once we viewed the menu we stayed for dinner.

Romatic table settings and a bit of fusion happening. Desserts are huge.

Not expensive by Australian standards but was our dearest meal in KK by far.

Coast Restaurant or Romantic dinner at the Coast Gazebo would be highly recommand.The restaurant located at Shangri-La%26#39;s Rasa Ria Resort. You will be serve by personal butler in the evening....Tks,Molly

I was recently in Kota Kinabalu on holiday. We actually stayed at Rasa Ria, which was lovely and dined at Coast, which was very good. We looked at the packages for the beach gazebo private dining, but they seemed a bit outrageously priced... better to just eat inside.

We also went to Atmosphere - in fact we went twice, it was so good!! The second time we went it was actually our anniversary, and the staff at the restaurant arranged a very special anniversary menu that came with a great wine and flowers and went out of their way to make the night extra special.

I would recommend that you do celebrate your anniversary at Atmosphere - no regrets and great memories!

We went to @mosphere for dinner one night last month and it was just so retro and a real spin-out decorwise. The views at sunset were great - the room wasn%26#39;t spinning yet. After our sunset drinks we perused the menu prior to being seated and found the menu saliva-inducing as well as being very witty and clever. But the food beat everything! Just DELICIOUS!!! A truly 5star meal! Service was great too. But the only thing that bothered me was that the room spun fast enough for me to actually feel slightly motion sick! Very odd.
