Sunway Lagoon transpo help.

10 adults %26amp; 4 kids heading to Sunway Lagoon on May 27. What will be the best and most convenient transpo for us going there from Agora Hotel, Bukit Bintang? and then from Sunway to Agora? How long will it take and approx how much will it cost us?

Many thanks!

Sunway Lagoon transpo help.

Since you have troop there, taking taxis is very incovenient. I%26#39;m afraid you have to take bus, of which I can%26#39;t really advise which bus to take. You will have to ask around, and it%26#39;ll take 60-90 mins. Of course the best thing is arrange a van from your hotel.

hi all especially ';close me up ';,

10 adults %26amp; 4 kids if the kids are of small size u can take 3 taxis or 4 taxis, lots of taxis in front agora taxi stand try to bargain n agree the price b4 the ride , i took a taxi in front of agora last september cost me RM25 to sunway lagoon n back to bukit bintang Rm 28 with the coupon system from sunways , just to give u an idea of the cost involves , u can read my trip report search under ';family backpacking to KL'; under my name in this forum, lot of info getting around KL.

cheers, regard oali.

Thanks for those ideas! It seems that I%26#39;ll get a good deal from Alwaha Travel %26amp; Tours, RM200 for Agora hotel/Sunway Lagoon return transfer for the entire group. Better than taking taxis. yey! :)

I really think that%26#39;s a good deal. Imagine the hassle you save for flagging down 4 taxis.

Though I do think you can haggle the price a bit more.

Really? how possibly low do you think it could still be? :)

Hi , Alwaha (???), where /how you contacted this company.

I checked with Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents(MATTA), and this company is not listed in their directory.

Secondly, be careful, that enroute to Sunway, they may entice you and take you on a ';tour';-where even if you do not buy anything, they get a stamp just bringing you there, which is redeemable for fuel, which covers the fuel that is being charged to you.

I am still thinking what vehicle that most tour companies over here have that could accommodate all 10 adults and 4 kids.Cannot really think of any- 10 adults yes, but also not very comfortable, now with 4 kids.

be very wary, they might say ';yes'; now, and when they see your entourage, they will say:-

a). Wah (a general expression of Malaysian) so many;one vehicle cannot do;

b). New law from Road Transport Authority, this vehicle can only carry (max) 7 adults-anything above, we can carry, but if we get summon, you take the risk.

Most travel agents over here are using these vehicles:-

Kia Pregio, Naza Ria, Toyota Hiace, Mercedes MB or Vito, because it is allowable under commercial vehicle licensing permit and under a new tax incentives, the tour agents gets a tax rebate on procurement of these vehicles.

None, even the Vito, which is the broadest of these, can accommodate 10 adults and adding another 4 kids.

I am just concerned, as May 27 is the school holidays already, they may get a school bus(non airconditioned) to take you on and charge this rate-yeap, there are many of these school buses, when comes the school holidays, becomes tour bus on a temporary permit.

So double check again.

Hi everyone esp. to Mkiara... Really appreciate all those advice... will put those in mind.

To answer your question, Alwaha tours %26amp; travel responded to me when I posted an email at Virtual tourist site asking for travel packages from diff. agents. That was for our Jan trip to KL. But then at that time, we have already confirmed with Shajasa Travel %26amp; tours so didn%26#39;t get a chance to try Alwaha. We were very satisfied with Shajasa%26#39;s service. We relied on them from our airport transfers to all our KL tours. They did not even ask for our payment until the 2nd day of our trip. No advance payment or whatsoever as well. And now that I%26#39;m planning our May trip, I contacted both agents. They have been very prompt with their replies and I asked them to quote for most of our surface transports but Alwaha seems to be more affordable in their quotes. I%26#39;m not sure of their reliability though unlike Shajasa. So it would be appreciated if anyone can give us feedback on Alwaha%26#39;s.

For the vehicle, both told us that we%26#39;ll be using MB140D that can accomodate 11adults + 3 childrens, though a bit tight. So we must resort to bakpak kind of luggage only (soft-type - can be place under the seats) per the agent. what do u think? any comment?

Cheers! :)

Hi, as mentioned Alwaha is not listed as MATA member, whereas the previous company- Shajasa is a member of MATA.

A credibility of a company that does tours and travel if is a MATA member, provides peace of mind- similarly to taking an airline which is member of IATA or PATA.

Is it right to interpret that your contact with Alwaha was from an email that you posted in another site.

Against Alwaha%26#39;s RM200 return trip from Agora to Sunway, what has Shajasa come back to you?

At least, not taking the cost factor into consideration, in an event of untoward inconveniences, you have a recourse in an organisation such as MATA to go to.

IN Malaysia, we have a common term-known as ';Ali Baba';, fly by night enterprise, and I am just concern on Alwaha-usually first thing anyone in the travel and tour business, besides registering and incorporating the company, is to get MATA recognition.

Right.. got your point Mkiara. Good thing I haven%26#39;t confirmed any tours from Alwaha yet. I%26#39;m curious why Alwaha doesn%26#39;t get MATA recognition though. Would that cost much on their part?

For the Sunway transfer, Shajasa offered us RM250. But another big difference is for our KL-GH %26amp; GH-LCCT airport transfers, Alwaha quoted RM500 while Shajasa - RM750. Both are for MB140D vehicle.

By the way, does GH have taxi counter? Planning to get an additional vehicle to transfer our extra luggage from GH-LCCT airport because the 14 of us + our luggages definitely won%26#39;t fit the van. lol. :)
