Laketown EcoPark

Hi,

Has anybody been to the EcoPark? Where is it? Is it close to Penang? Any information appreciated.

Thanks

PL

Laketown EcoPark

Laketown Ecopark is in Bukit Merah which is about 1 hr%26#39;s drive south of Penang Island on the North-South highway; maybe two-thirds of the way to Taiping. I have not been there at all; not into eco-tourism! Friend of mine goes there to fish sometimes.

Hi,

If you are referring to the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort%26#39;s Ecopark, my family and I were there 2 months back. The Resort consist mainly of a Waterpark, The Ecopark and an Orang Utan Island. The Ecopark is like a small zoo, with some animals freely roaming around. You can also feed the animals (the food for the animals are sold at the entrance to the Ecopark). There is also an animal show at designated times. Another option is to go for a night tour called %26#39;The Hoot Trail'; where you get on a cruise of the lake and then a guided tour of the Ecopark .I find this more interesting than the daytime visit since the animals are more active at night. The Orang Utan Island is a sanctuary for the orang utans. There are a number of accommodations at the resort if you plan to stay overnight. I believe the journey from Penang to Bukit Merah will be less than an hour by car.
