Quick question on cost of living

Hi

I was just wondering how much average things cost in KL such as a typical meal, drinks, taxi ride, show or entry tickets, massages etc..

How much in US dollars would each be and is there anything in particular that is exceptionally more expensive or cheaper e.g. electronics may be a lot more expensive in KL.

Thanks for the replies

Food Lodging taxi entry and massages are considerably cheaper in almost all cases, unless of course you get ripped off.

A 5 star hotel can go for USD100 a night (or if lucky, less)

A coke is sold for US 50 cents a can or less at a 7-11

A Beer is sold for between 4US to 7 US depending where you drink it

A taxi ride averages about US5-10 depending on the distance

A traditional Chinese massage costs USD 30-50 depending where you had it

Cigarettes, alcohol incur high sin taxes and so do imported luxury items and so will probably be expensive compared to some other countries.

That turns out cheaper than I expected. All except for the beer though. Oh well.

Thanks

hi deyveed

we found the beer to be expensive compared to everything else as well . but look out for happy hours , they come in handy.

as for the taxis , ask the price b4 you get in or the will rob you blind !

we caught a taxi ( going back a couple of years ago now ) never the less it cost us $15MYR from our hotel to the twin towers , to go back to the hotel all the taxis wanted $80MYR ...needless to say we found the train station beneath the taxi stand and caught a train for $1myr each.....so be carefull.

cheers
