Train from Singapore to KL

HI

We are travelling from Sinapore to KL in June and have heard not so good reports about travelling by coach. ie. stopping at customs, passport not being stamped, bus not waiting.

Would it be any easier by train?

Does the train stop for customs,if so would we have the same problems?

Would it be any easier flying?

Thanks very much

Train from Singapore to KL

Most probably you are referring to the regular route via the normal causeway catering for high volume traffic flow whereby time is a factor.

Option 1:This is a better option by road.At Singapore get cab only at Queen street taxi terminal to (Malaysia)JB(Johore bahru).4 passenger /cab on share basis apply.

The taxi will take you across both immigrations without coming down except on custom check on luggage)

Across Malaysia (JB ),the taxi wil stop at Kota raya Taxi stand(JB).

Transfer for cab or bus 170 or causeway link for bus to Larkin Bus station. At Larkin bus station, there are many regular express bus plying the JB%26gt;kuala lumpur route(inexpensive and comfortable)

Option2 via 2nd link::Take the express bus at North bridge road for express bus ,Singapore to Malaysia via the 2nd link,www.aeroline.com.my or www.plusliner.com for coach reservation.

The 2nd link to Malaysia has lesser traffic henceforth less hassle.

Train from Singapore to KL

Travelling by train is much more comfortable than the bus, even the executive bus.

Check out this website for details of the trains.

Does cost a bit more though !

Hi,

the train is comfy but will take ages.

We took first class sleeper KL to Singapore and First Class bus back in January 2007. The bus takes about one third of the time, and border controls are just as bad on the train, plus there is only one or two tracks going into Singapore, and they are sooo slow.

First class train from KL is cheaper than from Singapore - same train. Cabins are very comfy, with private bathroom and shower. You get a good nights sleep and save time and money by traveling overnight.

Bus from Singapore to KL - we got the First Class Transtar. Its well worth the money - one business class seat on each side, nice ride. It leaves from teh Golden Mile Shopping Centre in the norhtern part of the city, and this is where their ticket office is. it is best to buy one day in advance - best to go there by taxi.

Either way, you will stop twice for border control. Actually, border checkpoint on train was much more annoying, bit liek old Eastern bloc.

My advice in a nutshell: Take train if on night journey, bus if not
