Borneo Adventure

I am thinking of booking the Borneo Adventrue with Kuoni.

Does anyone have any experiences of this tour, especially the trip in the longboat to the long house and overnight stay.

Many thanks

Borneo Adventure

Hi,

I went on a tour last June to Boreo with Geko Adventures for 24 days. The longhouse stays are quite good but becoming a bit of a tourist attraction now. You may have to get out of the longboat on some occasions , depending on the depth of the river and push. The longhouse stay is worth the effort , the sleeping area that we stayed in was very basic with about 4 people per room on the floor. If you get the chance make the effort to go to the local school if they have one and see all the kids playing , they are very friendly and always up for a chat. The older tribes people pretty much keep to themselves but love to get on the rice wine in the evening (as there is nothing else to do) We were asked to bring gifts for the kids which I think they get from every tour that passes through. The best things to take are pens , pencils and writing material , don%26#39;t make it something that is over the top as the chief will hide this from the kids as it%26#39;s not fair that one gets a cool toy and the rest don%26#39;t. Stick with the pens and pencils and books.

Hope this helps a little.

If you plan to go to Longhouse. Please don%26#39;t wear something like gold, nice watches, keep valuable things out of people sight. Just to prevent some unhappy thing happened.

Try Mulu Caves as well. It is the Biggest Cave in this workd and most beautiful cave I ever seen.

Agree 100% about Mulu caves , a must see!

The best time to go is in the late afternoon as this is when the bats depart the cave....honestly it will blow your mind. it is something that has to be seen to be believed. And the caves themselves are just amazing.
