looking for a place to stay in kk

my husband and i are planning to brings our sons, 12 and 13 yrs old to kota kinabalu on october 2007. can you help us find a beach resort where we can stay. ive seen the webpage of berringis, are there any other resort hotels in the area? we dont need any pricey resort hotel, 3 star will do.

Would it be better if we stay in the city area and just allot 1 day for the beach?

hope to hear from you soon.

Apart from the resort you mentined most of the ather resorts in and around KK are 4 1/2 - 5 star resorts.

The largests is Sutera Harbour with the Pacific being cheaper than the Magellen. The others are Shangri La Tanjung Aru, Shangri La Rasa Ria and Nexus. Rasa Ria and Nexus are a fair distance from KK, about 45 minutes in a bus but both run shuttles to KK for a fee. Benngis is also a fair way from KK and I don%26#39;t think they have a shuttle.

Both Sutera Harbour and Tanjun Aru are not within walking distance of KK but both have regular shuttles, certainly free at Sutera Harbour and I think free at Tanjung Aru but i,m not sure.

There are many other cheaper conventional hotels in KK but be aware there is no real beach in KK or at Sutera Harbour of Tanjung Aru. Both Rasa Ria and Nexus have very large beaches. Acees to off shore islands is easy and these have good beaches. access is from near Tanjung Aru, Sutera Harbour marina and the foreshore in KK.

Have a look at Kota Kinablau Hotels for TA reports on various hotels.

Just a bit of advice, I have stayed at Rasa Ria 4 times, for a week each time, over the last 4 years (as recent as this March) and have found the hotel, the natural environment, the staff and the restaurants excellent. It may be a bit expensive comaprfed to the Phillipines but is very reasonable compared to Australian Prices. I cannot understand some of the recent reports on the Rasa Ria. They must be very very fussy or have stayed at a different hotel to me.

Hi Joieb,

Near the Berringis Resort you%26#39;ll also find Langkah Syabas, which is a nice beach resort much unlike the big names. As is Berringis, it%26#39;s a little out of town, but I reckon for you family probably ideally located.

It%26#39;s also just around the corner from KK Adventure park which will certainly give you a few kicks.

If the Resort has its own website, it certainly doesn%26#39;t rank very high up in the search listings, but here%26#39;s some contact details extracted from this website: http://www.infosabah.com.my/syabas/

Tel: 60-88-752000

Fax: 60-88-752111

E-mail: langkahsyabas@myjaring.net

I%26#39;ve stayed in Beringgis before a couple of months ago, and it is a very nice beach resort. But the next best resort nearby would be Langkah Syabas. The rest aren%26#39;t really worth mentioning.

If you would like to stay closer to the city area, and if you are willing to splurge a bit, then you could either stay at Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort (STAR) or Sutera Harbour Resort, where they are both located in the city area and have a beach. But Sutera Harbour Resort would be my choice if I were you and this is just because it is closer to the city as compared to STAR. Plus, they have a lot of restaurants to choose from, which I love! ;)

But then again, you will enjoy amazing sunset views from either resorts!

Hope this helps! :)

Well this is our last night in KK in the penthouse and we loved it so checkout its web site www.penthousekk.com I will be writing a report on it when I return to Aust. This is a very good place to stay to be in town over looking the sea, right next door to centre point and the waterfront
