Hotel Helang, Getting around.

I will be staying at Hotel Helang and not Bella Vista anymore. I will be going there this tuesday. So i need some suggestions

What are the nearest place to shop for some duty free items and restaurants which are close to hotel helang?. I do not have a drivers license so renting a car wouldnt do. Can i like rent a bicycle or something?

And if i were to go to a place with a lot of shops and decent eating places, where do i head to?

And where is town by the way?

Hotel Helang is next to the airport!

So you can go to the airport to do some duty free shopping.

For the rest you will need a taxi to go to Kuah (town)for shopping and restaurants its half an hour by car

or to Pantai Cenang (tourist area) its 10 minutes away by car.

Ask the hotel to arrange a bicycle for you!

You%26#39;re close to Matsirat where you find nice hawkerstalls the night market here is on Sunday

Have fun!

Hi, thanks a lot for the information.

How much will the taxis charge for a half hour ride then? Is it like a fixed rate or something?

Best to do go to the airport (around the corner)

The Helang is an unusual choice of hotels, you do realise its right next to the airport.

It is a nice place, usually under-occupied most of the year but very popular during LIMA.

Last time I stayed there they opened the restuarant for breakfast, but did not open for dinner or lunch. They have a small bar open for drinks by the poolside.

Nearest place to eat outside the hotel would be Cenang, as has been said by langkawilover, take a taxi, or rent a bike, very dark roads in this area due to incoming flights. Take care !

The hotel itself is very nice, comfortable clean rooms, good glazing (airport), and helpful staff. Seems to attract more groups than independant travellers.

If you do want to do some shopping go to Kuah or Cenang, the airport is a bit overpriced. Closest place is at Underwater World in Cenang, but it really depends on what kind of items you want to purchase.

Have a great time, I have fond memories of Helang, hope you will have too.

Sorry, as posted by langkawilover, Padang Matsirat is the nearest place to eat. Good for Malaysians, not so good for western holiday makers.

To much Nasi/Mee Goring and not enough chips/potato if you know what I mean. lol

I%26#39;m sure you know !

I just got back from langkawi a few days ago.

I had a great time there thanks to you guys.

Yeap, you are right, the staff are pretty helpful as i asked them tons on questions.

All in all, a memorable experience with my loved one.

No thanks! See you again!

warm regards from sunny Langkawi
