Honeymoon destination

Hello,

My boyfriend and I are thinking of going to either Tioman, Redang or the Perhentian island for our honeymoon. We are going in the first two weeks of September and looking for advise on which island is the best (in terms of beach, food and generally getting away frmo it all!) and which resort offers a truly amazing holiday that does not cost the earth.

Any advise would be really appreciated!

Thanks

Hi cathee, in relation to your preference criteria, I do note a contrary needs, which prevails over here, whereby , in simple terms, particularly with island resorts in Malaysia: best food do not tally with resort not costing the earth.

Nevertheless, with purchasing power parity and exchange rates, a resort, which could still offer the best and also getting away from it all, and may not cost the earth will be JapaMala Resort in Tioman island.

Their food of Indochina cuisine will defintely tantalise your tastebuds, and in my personal opinion, the most creative and innovative food preparations and presentation, compared to all resorts in Tioman, Redang or Perhentian islands.

(they do have a high reputation to maintain, as they operate three very highly acclaimed restaurants in KL under the Tamarind umbrellaship).

However, I will advise, when it comes to beach-then in terms of ranking, and also taking into account the marine life , then the best is naturally Perhentian, but food quality and service of delivery is terrible.

Second is actually Redang, but when taking your preference criteria of getting away from it all-am afraid this island is getting ever popular, particularly now, even cruise ships are docking there, and bringing in loads of vacationers on cruise ships.

As such, a good option, and particularly with JapaMala, it is located close to the southern tip of Tioman island, which is less touristy, and beach quality is comparable to those in Redang and Perhentian-though not so, in terms of its length of stretch.

If JapaMala room rates seems a bit off tangent with your allocated budget, check Bagus Place, also located towards southern tip of Tioman island.
