Safety

I will be visiting KL with my two girls. Is it safe to walk from the LRT station/Monorail and KTM station to the Hilton KL at night after 9pm or should we just take a taxi.

What is the dress code in KL. Will we get stare if we wear shorts/t shirt or should we go with jeans?

Safety

Its ok to walk from the KTM station, or Putra LRT to Hiltion KL, as you only have to cross a busy and well lit road. The Star Monorail is something else, as its a bit of a walk across a field.

If its like 930pm or 1030pm should be ok.

If its running late, like close to midnight, better to take a cab if its Star Monorail. Also note the time of the last train.

Shorts and T-shirts are fine in the gym, at the pool..etc. For shopping malls, better to be bermudas / T-Shirt or jeans.

Safety

Hi, with the LRT and KTM, which terminates inside KL Sentral, there is a linked walkway all the way into KL Hilton lobby.

As for monorail, which is outside KL Sentral, should be allright, though am looking from the aspect, should it rains, then take a taxi or do an interchange- monorail to LRT-the best interchange station is DangWangi(LRT)/Bukit Nanas(monorail) (as it is covered all the way),and 5minutes distant apart by walking.

with regards to dress code-in general, a matter of over dressing or under dressing-which may attracts stare or an admiration glimpse.

Many causcasion visitors who are not acclimatise to our humid weather, finds it more comfortable to wear bermudas and T-shirt, and dress it down with sandals.Linen or cotton Chinos are also perfect. Advisable to have pants with secured zips or hidden buttons, incase you are in crowded areas to prevent pick pocketing in Chinatown, LRT/monorail.

If carrying a sling bag, make sure it is not to the side of traffic to prevent snatch thief on motorcycles.

Please carry with you a photostat passport, and the original is kept in hotel safe.An identification on you is always good, in case anything happens to you.

In case, you always wonder what to do with those expired passport and you are still keeping them, well, recycle them, take it with you, and have it placed in your luggages, another good secure form of identification.

Have a safe and pleasant trip.

Thank you MKIARATRAVEL for those valuable info. Will take extra vigilant with our belongings when we are out on the street.
