what did you pay - rasa ria?

i planned my vac. at kk rasa ria based on the discussions and information from tripadvisor and it was spot on - excellent all around. this place has been invaluable to me. everything was as described (the place, the activities) and the excellent reviews helped me to get an idea of RR, KK and decide what activities were best for me. i had a great time.

i am now planning a second vac for end of the year and looking at mauritius.

my question about KK Rasa Ria is: looking at the average rate of USD $167 for the hotel on tripadvisor, that is close to the day rate i paid (USD $165) for end May. I booked from the hotel%26#39;s web site , which gives a lowest price guarantee.

But now I%26#39;ve ventured into travel agents web sites and other web sites such as hoteltravel, i see vastly lower rates for KK RR - $99 /night on avrage, albeit for December period.

Has anyone any feedback on this? if you have stayed at kk rasa ria in the may period, did you pay closer to USD$165 or USD$99/night and is the difference just the time of year ? I am just a bit surprised. And also I am finding that ust for hoteltravel or another local agent%26#39;s site, the rates for certain hotels are cheaper than the hotels%26#39; own direct web sites (the ones i started looking at are angsana mauritius and banyan tree in bintan, there is a vast difference for the latter). i am completely new to booking vacations as the only one i have booked was rasa ria KK and i booked from the hotel web site directly and then booked the flight directly at the plane web site as well. now that it appears i will be vacationing often :), i had better look into optimising funds!

any contributions welcome.

I paid $A148 per night for an Ocean View Delux room in March, Including full breakfast. Look at a conversiom rate of $1 US = .83 Cents Australian = around $US120. I booked through QANTAS Holidays in Australia.

Beware of the cheaper deals you find at budget booking sites. Read the fine print closely. Often it will just be a price for room only with no inclusions.

Remember when comparing prices to check which rooms are on offer and any inclusions or lack of them.

Personally I book through Shangri la direct and get the best deal with all nearly all meals included, transfers and other inclusions that suited me.

Also read the fine print of RRR best price gaurantee.

RRR is a great resort, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere all round.

Cheers

Roger
