Jungle footwear!

Advice please needed on what footwear to pack for the jungle - we have a 5 day trip in Sabah staying at Sakau Lodge and Danum. Will it be necessary to pack walking boots or will we be OK with trainers/sneakers?

Jungle footwear!

Hi

Just got back on Monday and we also stayed in both these places. It%26#39;s just coming into Monsoon season so is quite wet %26amp; muddy. I took walking boots which I got from Millets as they had a half price sale on (Hi Techs for £25, waterproof liteweight).

Some people wore trainers but they did slip about quite a bit.

I have been several times and always visit Uncle Tans (very basic) jungle lodge. In all cases I wore nothing else but a pair of Clarkes Hiking Sandles (fully open toed) for comfort and coolness. These were perfect and they are still going strong after 10 years!

In the Danum Valley you cannot wear open footwear due to the leeches but this was the only place in Sabah that I have not worn them.
