Internet Cafe's

Hi 1Warrior,

There are PLENTY of internet cafe%26#39;s in KK and they are hard to miss.

First, chances are your hotel will have a facility, which will probably be a rip-off. In most shopping centers there are plenty - but I think the highest concentration is to be found in Centerpoint Shopping Centre. I%26#39;m at one now paying RM 2.50 per hour (passed 3 others, tried one but the computer crashed, I left), but I%26#39;ve seen RM 2 to RM 4 per hour - also depends on how new the equipment is.

There%26#39;s another few cafes near the Hyatt, across the road near Viet Cafe - decent computers. Inside Wisma Merdeka there is a new%26#39;ish one with well decent computers - you will be spoilt for choice when you%26#39;re here and if you really fail to see one - just stop some random person and they will direct you to one.

If you have a laptop, Coffee Bean and Starbucks has wi-fi access, free if you%26#39;re having coffee or sitting nearby. Your hotel will probably also have in-room access or wi-fi areas which may or may not be charged for. KK is pretty plugged in.

We used one in Centerpoint shopping ctr. Go up the escalator to 2nd floor ocean side of centre. You should be able to see it from the top of the escalator, it is right in front of you.

cost less than $1 per hour

Apologies for digging up this old thread. I%26#39;ll be passing through KK next week and will want to use wi-fi, as I%26#39;ll be in a cheap place for a night or two .

Any other coffee shops with free wifi? Or still Coffee Bean %26amp; Starbucks.

Thanks

Howzeet Mate,

Yup, Coffebeans (waterfront and corner of Merdeka Square near Wisma Sabah), Starbucks (in Warrisan near the waterfront and level 4 of the Centrepoint), Upperstar opposite the Hyatt, the Office Pub in Api Api and a few other random and unexpected places around KK all have hotspots.

In fact, swing your laptop around near any spot in KK and you%26#39;ll probably pick up a signal. How internet cafe%26#39;s still survive is anybody%26#39;s guess.
