I need help in planning on what to see and do while in KUL. We are not great history buffs, but would like to visit for example Petrona towers, hindu temples, the caves, shopping! And major attractions for the 6 nights.

We plan to stay at the renaissance kul

Thanks people.

Hi

I have made a Google map that shows you the location of some of the attractions in KL: http://gardkarlsen.com/kuala_lumpur_map.htm . I had a stop at Petrosains at KLCC, I went to the Petronas twin towers, KL Tower, Batu caves, Petaling street, did a bit of shopping etc. I%26#39;ll send you a link to my trip report and maybe you can find some useful info there :-)

Hi, coach journey to Singapore is around 5.5hours.

As you are planning your stay in Renaissance KL, a first stop which I wish to suggest is the Malaysian Tourist Information Centre, well besides getting leaflets of places to go, you can even buy your coach ticket to Singapore from here, from the coach operator- Transnasional- the coach departs from the open parking bay just across the road from your hotel.

Over here, you can also exchange money with a licensed money changer and also withdraw cash from ATM(Maybank).

Sights that are close to the hotel,i.e. within 10-13 minutes distant by walking are:- Petronas Twin Towers, and KL Tower (and also Forest in the City- Bukit Nanas Forest reserve).

Then, taking the LRT from Dang Wangi station, to Pasar Seni LRT station, will get you to a popular Hindu temple in Chinatown area( landmark- Popular Book Store /Hotel Malaya). From this temple the procession starts/end during Thaipusam for the shrine in Batu Caves.

Shopping around here is at Petaling Street: Chinatown, and also Central Market (Pasar Budaya). Other nearby attraction is Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

For further shopping, take the monorail at Bukit Nanas, and alight at Bukit Bintang monorail station, which will bring you to plethora shopping malls in this KL shopping district.

Both Bukit Nanas monorail and Dang Wangi LRT stations are just across the road from your hotel.

Other major attractions as advised in earlier thread reply.

wow many thanks for replies!

So much information! Great! I have not read all the posts wih great detials, as i am at work at the moment, but once i get back home will look into them in more detail!

So is 6 nights too long? Should i cut it to 4 or 5 nights?

Yes will be traveling by coach from Singapore and will arrive in afternoon time.

maic yes it will be Bali , Singapore and then KUL before heading back to Singapore to catch the flight back home to London...Why what are your views on this?

i want to ask about the city tours...do they run all day? That would be great for us, for example if we arrive afternoon and can do the tour?

Also do they cover the main attractions etc?

As if we complete this tour on first day, after we can pick and choose which attraction we enjoyed the most and visit in again etc.

The main attractions on list include Petronas towers (ps we would like to go inside the towers and the bridge if possible) so im thinking we would have to arrive early. In addition do special tickets have to be purchased? Batu caves is another must for us, KL tower, China town, and shopping malls, and shopping shopping! And also have time to relax by the pool in the hotel etc.

Hi doopwoop,

Here is a link to one of the forum member regarding the KL Petronas Tower.

Taking a Coach from Singapore can be a tiring affair. Although the coach is comfortable (if you take the executive coaches), its still a rather long journey of 4-6 hours, followed by getting to the hotel and checking in. It is not a good idea to arrange a tour on arrival day as the bus may be late.

After you check in the hotel, may I suggest a light evening? You can go to Petaling street evening/night market, or take a walk along Jalan Bukit Bintang. If you did not book tours in advance, then this is the chance to ask the tour desk at the hotel for advice and pick something for the next day or two.

Nothing wrong with doing Bali Singapore then KL. Different countries, different cultures. If you take some of my suggestions and do some KL stuff and venture further afield, 6 nights is not a problem.

thank you so much again for the helpfull posts!

Yeah i guess we will be tired after the long trip. So prob just do something light etc. And have an early night so we can wake up early and venture out the next day.
