Bus from Penang to KL

How long does the bus take from Penang to KL,? How often do they run and do you need to book?

Bus from Penang to KL

Trevmarg,

It takes roughly 5 hours and many different companies do this route. Prices vary as do the coaches. This link will give you some idea of prices and departure times. Just don%26#39;t take this links details as gospel as I%26#39;m not sure how often the site is updated. For exact info go to the individual company websites.

I would book well in advance only if I was travelling in peak holiday periods, if not I%26#39;d book when I got there (0n the day itsself, or a day or two before).

Most of the buses don%26#39;t actually leave from Penang itself. You will need to take the ferry across to Butterworth from Georgetown. The station is about 300yrds from the ferry terminal.

You will have no problems buying the tickets in Georgtown, but as M2006 points out, book asap if you are traveling peak period or during holidays.

The ferry takes about ten minutes once it is loaded up and leaves.

Hi, my husband and I rode on the Nice 2, it took about 4 to 4 1/2 hours each way. It was a really nice ride, they give you drinks and lunch, and there is one stop along the way for the bus to gas up, and for passengers to use the restroom and buy snacks.

Our bus left Penang at 9 a.m. and we got to KL around 1:30. On the way back to Penang, the bus left at 8 a.m. and we arrived in Penang just after noon.

My husband booked the tickets directly with the company at the bus station in Penang, they were about 55 rm each, each way--expensive in Malaysia but a real bargain if you%26#39;re from the western world. It was well worth the extra amount. We were very happy with this service.

Here is the web address for the ';Nice'; buses. We rode on ';Nice 2'; which I think are the best ones they have.

Hi Marilynn76 , where they%26#39;re station (NICE 2 bus) in Penang and KL?and have a persional TV in bus .Thanks you

Just a correction to what Robylyn15 said. Buses to KL do leave from Penang Island; now they all leave from a cental terminal in Sungei Nibong, about 15 - 20 mins distance by taxi/car from city centre. ';Nice'; coaches offer the premium service with only 20 passengers or so per coach (larger more comfortable seats) but several departures per day (4 or 5 I think). It%26#39;s value for money.
