restaurant

I need to know what%26#39;s the difference in term of food quality/service/location between a Saloma restaurant and another one which I cannot remember the name but I know it%26#39;s on a tower and it%26#39;s a revolving restaurant.

Also, in KLCC there%26#39;s two restaurant...Mdm Kwan and a Penang restaurant???? Which one is worth trying? Is there any Indian restaurant that serve their meal on a banana leaf?

Hi.

I%26#39;d go to Madam Kwan%26#39;s. Please be aware that while it is good local food, it%26#39;s more upmarket. Penang Village is equally good too. Just check out the menu and decide what you want. Both restaurants may not have the dish you want.

As for banana leaf rice, take a taxi to Raju%26#39;s Restaurant at Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya. If there%26#39;s no traffic, it takes about 20 mins from KLCC. Make sure you wear light clothes, nothing too thick, as most banana leaf restaurants are al-fresco and the food SPICY.

BTW, be sure to order a ';teh tarik';, that%26#39;s hot tea.

Haven%26#39;t been to either Saloma or the one at KL Tower. I do know that a plus point for Saloma is that they have daily cultural dance performances. Heard food%26#39;s ok there.

Enjoy!

The Resturant you forgot the name is the Seri Ankasa Resturant on top of Menara KL. The view from the resturant is fantastic. However the food is expensive and its a buffet dinner. I would liken the food to be economy class airline food taste and quality (with variety of course, since its a buffet).

Have never been to the Saloma resturant so can%26#39;t comment on that.

Banana leaf is considered a rather costly dish in Malaysia. 4 persons can cost RM50-100 depending on what you eat. So bear that in mind when the bill comes :-)

Hi cb,

Well I never been to the Saloma restaurant honestly though we stayed most of the time at the Renaissance Hotel which is across to it. For your information, Restaurant Seri Angkasa and Seri Melayu are from the same company. Seri Angkasa in on the Menara KL (KL Tower) while Seri Melayu in Jalan Conlay. My husband and I used to eat at the Restaurant Seri Melayu in Jalan Conlay. You will find a big and very nice buffet plus a cultural show in this restaurant. After having you dinner at Jalan Conlay, you could walk to KLCC or go to Bukit Bintang area for the night life. Here is the link to the restaurant plus the prices.

I have been to Mdm Kwan at KLCC and it is really a very nice restaurant with the local menu but have to warn you that if you decide to go there it is better to go early or make a reservation as it is always crowded! As for the Penang restaurant this is also a very nice place to eat and to taste the local food which mainly caters to Penang cuisine.

As for the banana leaf restaurant, if you really wanted to have the experience as a local, I would suggest you go to Cetty Town/Lebuh Ampang area where you will find India restaurant serving on banana leaf and the price is cheap as it is mostly vegetarian food! You could get on the underground and get off at Masjid Jamek Station and ask for Lebuh Ampang where you will see a lot of India shops about 6 minutes from the station. Another place to eat on banana leaf is Brickfield area. It is not expensive unless you go to 5 star Indian restaurant but not the normal local one! Enjoy it.

Here is a link for you to check it out.
