Have just discovered that the hotel Puri our first choice - (make that only)-of a place to stay is booked out on the days we%26#39;ll be in Melaka. Just from reading the forum the Aldy or Fenix sound interesting- does anyone know whether these hotels can be contacted by email or website? Cheers.

Depending on your preference, both Hotel Aldy and Fenix Inn are rather different.
Fenix Inn is recommended only if you want budget hotel that is clean/new and convenient for sightseeing and shopping. It is close to being a guest house or hostel and also offer limited space in the room and the lobby.

Aldy Hotel is in between historic centre and shopping area, arguably with the best location for the town. However, the hotel and rooms have just the simple, contemporary design and it does not have ambiance of Hotel Puri.

Now, for something similar to the historic shop house style hotel like Puri, try Baba House. However, do read the various reviews from TA as some people have found its musky smell unbearable while I didn%26#39;t feel much when I visited a friend.
