best rates at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Oct/Nov 07

Looking to book 2 double room for 10 nights late Oct / early Nov at Shangri-La%26#39;s Tanjung Aru.

Finding it hard to compare various on-line rates (with exchange rate and ';plus service charge'; variables, etc) with decent sounding all-in price from Travelbag quoted over the phone and confirmed in email.

Any advice on how people have achieved the best price, and on any available discounts, would be very welcome.

Hi there, We are going to the Tanjung Aru in October.

We have booked 2 rooms in the tanjung deluxe sea view rooms.

Our bookings have all been made by our travel agent (Flight Centre -Australia ).

The price they got for us was very competitive.

I sourced prices from everywhere ,including a quote from the resort- which was more expensive.

The deal we got matched the deals offered in 2 holiday brochures, ie. 7 nights for the price of 6, breakfast daily and return airport transfers ( 2 rooms- 4 people ) for approx. $2260AUD.

The travel brochures were from Creative Holidays and Adventure World which are both Australian.

Note that they were also offering %26#39; stay 10 days- pay 8 %26#39;.

Suggest getting into a travel agent and grabbing some English brochures and asking what they can do for you.

All other web deals that I sourced were not as good as the above.

Try and go that bit extra and get upgraded to the Horizon club , worth every penny, we got a great deal from our T/A only £ 12 per person per day.

This is about 1070 GBP for 7 nights, and thus about 15% more than your AUD price (at current xe.com rates). So we have scope to shop around yet - thanks for the advice, and the Horizon Club tip.

Try a company called Travel 2 they are far east and australasia specialists. You won%26#39;t get a quote on line as they only deal through travel agents. When I was booking for our trip in june they were approx £300 pounds cheaper than the other tour operators for two of us. This was including flights with singapore airlines direct from Manchester.

I am in Kota Kinabalu now and we are staying in Penthousekk in town over looking the sea 11th %26amp;12th floor it has 3 double bedrooms one twin 3 bathrooms this would be suit you great. there are 3 couples in our party and we are paying 850 RM a night that is about 130 pound per night for the 4 of you worth checking it out we love the place.

i got a party of 4 staying for 11 nights in the tanjuung aru plus 4nights in singapore on the outward leg and 4nights in kl on the homeward leg for £ 1400.00 pp though tropical deals co.uk

this is mid feb 2008 flight are from manchester with qatar airways
