Best diving sites in malaysia

Hi all,

What are the top diving sites in Malaysia?

We are just learning scuba diving and next year we would like to

visit some good diving sites in Malaysia but which are also accessible to newbys.

I hear Sipadan Semporna and Mabul are fantastic. Are these ok for relative beginners?

Hi RIck,

Depending on the time of the year, east coast of Peninsula Malaysia has better diving sites than the west coast. The best season is from April to Sep in the east coast and Dec to Mar in the west coast.

Best diving among east coast is Perhentian Island or Redang Island. The others such as Lang Tengah, Kapas Island have limited accommodation options.

Sipadan and Mabul islands are more suitable for advanced divers and for beginners you may find the costs too high and the diving too scary (especially the wall diving in Sipadan). It is probably best appreciated when you have done more diving.

If you want to go to Sabah, try Layang Layang island.
