Air Asia - Is it possible to change?

HI, I wonder if someone could give me a bit of advice.

Currently I have booked Air Asia tickets one way from KL to Bangkok. (family of 6). However, long story ... we now have extra days in KL (11 days total) so I thought it would be a good opportunity to visit Langkawi. That is 6 nights KL then 5 nights Langkawi.

Do you think it is at all possible to change Air Asia flight from KL to Langkawi then do Langkawi direct to Bangkok?

Does anyone have an email contact with Air Asia. It is difficult for me to make international calls from here, I would have to use my mobile to ring them to ask.

Thanking you in advance.

Air Asia - Is it possible to change?

Thank you so much for your help. I did try to change it online, but it would only let me change the dates.

I will send them off an email now.

Cheers.

Hi there

I changed flight dates with Air Asia, but in my experience it was a big hassle. I spent GBP10 ringing from the UK on their customer services number, and achieved nothing but ';hold'; music. Their website wouldn%26#39;t let me amend my own booking, it wouldn%26#39;t even recognise it. They didn%26#39;t respond to my booking-related email queries,

Eventually I did get through on the phone line, and found out that to amend the date of the tickets I had already bought, was only marginally cheaper than buying entirely new tickets.

In my opinion, if the cost of new tickets is anywhere close to the alteration cost (I think it tells you this on your booking document) then you might save yourself a lot of hassle by just buying new tickets as a new customer on their website.

My flight was Langkawi - Bangkok.

Good luck

John

I have changed flights several times on the routes that you have mentioned. Since Air Asia covers both routes it is possible to do it on line. If you look at their website it has a section for changes...you have to supply your booking code. Likely you will be charged the current rate for the ticket and may have to pay the difference if the current cost is higher. I know they have a present a deal from KL to langkawi. If you go to Langkawi, try for accommodation on Pantai Cenang...the best beach. I live half of the year in Langkawi (at Telaga Harbour) and find it a very nice place. You might even consider taking the ferry to Koh Lipe (Thailand) that is very much like French Polynesia. Cheers, Norm

Thank you all so much for your advice.

I did try to change it online. I put in my booking code, but all it will allow me to do is change the dates of flying, not the route. Unless I am doing something wrong :-)

Quite frustating as the info is there, but nothing I can do. The route section is just faded text .. no chance of doing anything with it. Only section that I could play with was dates.

I sent an email off last night. But after reading John%26#39;s post, I think i will give them a ring.

Cheers everyone.

I spoke to them this morning. Have been advised that I can NOT change flights.

I can only change date and time .. not sectors.

What a shame.

Hi there

Just a personal opinion, but I would rather pay for extra flights and do the split KL/Langkawi itinerary rather than save some money and spend 11 days in KL.

Especially if you%26#39;ve not been to Langkawi before!

Good luck

John

Thanks John. I think that is exactly what we will do. Spend 6 nights in KL then 5 in Langkawi.

Looks like we will bite the bullett and just book langkawi to bangkok and forget about our other Asia flights. It%26#39;s not worth the hassle.

Appreciate your comments.

Cheers.

Hi dav,

Most airline tickets are non re-routable (can%26#39;t change destination). However, you can usually refund the ticket and rebook a new sector for most scheduled airlines under normal economy fares.

For budget airlines, most comes with no cancellation policy. Therefore, if you change the route, you have to forego the ticket.

splitting your 11 days to KL and Langkawi is a good idea.

Since you can%26#39;t change your tickets now, an alternative is to book a KL-Langkawi-KL flight. There are lots of KL-Langkawi flights daily. just rebook your KL - Bangkok flight in the afternoon (if its on a morning schedule) and take a Langkawi-KL Flight in the morning for your last day in Malaysia.

If you book in advance, you can get round trip KL-Langkawi tickets for under US$50.
