I am staying here in September and would like to know whether the ongoing renovations at the hotel cause any disruption to anyones holiday, i received a letter from trailfinders to say that there is building work being done to a new spa on a separate island with walkway ( is this close to hotel and does it affect veiws?) the Kinabulu is also still being renovated so am i better to stay at the Tanjung wing? The work is going to continue till end of September.

shangri-la tanjung aru renovations
I just returned from the Shangri-La, and we had a room in the Kinabalu wing. The renovation was in no way a problem. They are renovating one portion of the Kinabalu wing as well as the spa. (If your room is in the K wing, you simply have to walk a few extra steps, and use an ugly stairway, to skirt the construction. This was not a big deal, IMHO.) The renovation of the spa also did not bother us. I suppose it affects the view, but only in that one spot! There is still plenty of beautiful coastline, we saw gorgeous sunsets every night, and we barely noticed any construction noise. I%26#39;d say that the only down side to the renovation is that the fabulous Pulau Bayu restaurant is temporarily closed -- but we had excellent meals every night at in the other hotel restaurants.
