Planning a trip to K.L
Would like some advice on best places to shop and stay.
Accomodation preferred is 4-5 star
type of shopping would include mainly clothing and accessories..
Looking for brand names, copies etc..
Ideally would like hotel in close proximity to shopping centre or markets.
Where is best place to shop and stayHi, you have a choice of quite a few, especially in Bukit Bintang, where you are in close proximity to shopping centres:-
4/5 stars hotels:-
a). Westin;
b). JW Marriott;
(a) and (b) is next to each other
c). Ritz Carlton
Linked by walkway to above (b)
d). Coronade
close to monorail station-less than 5 minutes walk.
e). Park Royal
Next to above (d)
Both above (d) and (e) is across the road from a popular shopping centre- Sungai Wang Plaza, whereas Coronade is just next to Lot 10 shopping centre.
Where is best place to shop and stayHi ashnmar, I normally stay at the Mandarin Oriental or the Ascott when I am in KL, it is just next door to the Petronas twin towers and Suria KLCC Mall. There are lots of brand name items in the mall, Gucci, Chanel and so on. Lots of clothes shop and restaurants as well. Very convinient as the MO is just a few steps away from the mall. Perhaps you would like the Traders Hotel, which is not too far away, as it is newer and alot more hip!
I rarely stay along Bukit Bintang as there is a high chance of walking into a ';fake'; goods shop, and the place is always jammed up. Pretty hared to get out of there, if you are in a cab. JW Marriot has once been a 5-star a few year ago, but the rooms there are pretty dirty at the moment, too many tourists. Check the Westin out, its next to the Marriot and its a whole lot cleaner and newer.
Cheers!
Hi -I%26#39;m a Melburnian and we just came back 2 days ago from JW Marriot. We had an absolute BALL. It was luxurious and the staff were definitely 5 star. The Westin has a modern minimalist look whereas the Marriot aims for opulence/marble/gold. We stayed on the 19th floor with a TT view and it was very clean and not noisy. There is construction all along that street. I%26#39;m really glad I didn%26#39;t stay near KLCC as that%26#39;s all you get. If you want genuine, stay at the Marriot as its linked with STArhill Gallery with shops such as Louis Vitton, Dior etc and underneath is Feast Village - broad range of restaurants. If you want midrange malls such as LOT 10. Isetan, Metrojaya all you%26#39;ve got to do is walk 5 minutes. The MArriot has the BEST location. We didn%26#39;t bother going to Petaling Street in Chinatown( copy centre for watches dvds etc) but its only a short, cheap taxi drive away. We only paid AUD$150 bfast included for our deluxe room and it was definitely 5 star. They even let me check out late for free. I think it pays to be polite and warm and the staff speak very well and do try their best to accommodate. I didn%26#39;t find my room dirty at all and I don%26#39;t think it was very busy though the concierge did say I just missed a big tour group. We stayed at the Marriot for 6 nights and I could %26#39;ve stayed another 3-4 nights.
