Points of interest in KL that are unique to Malay culture

Pls. give me some recommendations for places in KL that represents the culture of the Malay people (arts, food, performances, etc.).

I don%26#39;t want to visit places that are of Chinese influenced because I am very familiar with all things Chinese.

I would like to see and learn more about the Malay people as well as activities relating to Muslim.

Your advice is appreciated.

As for Malay arts, you could visit :

1. The Central Market, by Putra LRT get off at Pasar Seni Station

walk across the station.

Located at Jalan Conlay, the National Craft Centre is a popular, one-stop location for traditional Malaysian handicrafts and souvenirs. Here you may observe the craftsmen at work, watch artists paint at the landscaped garden or even shop for decorative outfits and fabrics.

3. Malaysia Islamic Arts Museum

4. The National Mosque next to the Islamic Art Museum at Jalan

Perdana.

5. The Masjid Jamek the oldest Mosque in Kuala Lumpur in Jalan

Tun Perak. Take a Putra LRT and get off at station Masjid Jamek and the mosque is across the station.

6. Sultan Abdul Samad building at the merdeka square.

Here you will find also a showroom of Malay materials.

7. Pasar Malam at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman on Saturday

6.00 pm onwards to sample the malaysian foods. (it is crowded and beware of pickpocket) During day time you will find a lot

of shops selling malaysia dresses like batik and you can bargain the prices.

There are also a lot of stall selling malay foods at the street or area like central market, kg. baru, bangsar and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.
